Animated Short of the Day: Wes Ball, a graphic artist best known for his work with HBO and his award-winning student short A Work in Progress, has spent the last two years working with his company, OddBall Animation, on a “passion project” called Ruin, described as “an animated short set in a post-apocalyptic universe.”

Words can’t do this stunning feat of CGI justice, which is probably why the entire short is completely dialog free. Do yourself a favor and set the next 8 minutes aside to watch something truly remarkable.

This Is Informative, You Should Watch It of the Day: Brave breast-cancer survivor Linda Burger, 56, has a few choice words for certain people who seem to think politics should be allowed to dictate policy when it comes to the life-saving detection and treatment of breast cancer.

This video contains very frank language and courageously graphic footage of a body that’s undergone a bilateral mastectomy, but it is highly recommended viewing for anyone who wishes to learn from a well-informed source what breast cancer is, and — perhaps more importantly — what it is not.

Okay, so I have a lot of followers who will say that some of this is offensive. The reason I find this funny is because this is an accurate representation of young NI culture and it’s what I overhear in every day in coffeshops and off-licenses. Yes it’s ignorant. Spides will be spides.

Also, the other day I was telling D that he knows way too many random people in this country as he was pointing out people that were in the news that he knew. “Not really”, he said. I showed him this today and he goes, “Oh, hey. That’s Fitzy. I went to school with him.” Case closed.

As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.

King said in an interview that this photograph was taken as he tried to explain to his daughter Yolanda why she could not go to Funtown, a whites-only amusement park in Atlanta. King claims to have been tongue-tied when speaking to her. “One of the most painful experiences I have ever faced was to see her tears when I told her Funtown was closed to colored children, for I realized the first dark cloud of inferiority had floated into her little mental sky.”
